Benicio is Metro's critic Phil Brown's choice

for Best Performance, for his portrayal of

Ernesto Guevara De la Serna in

The Argentine and Guerrilla.

 

After seeing both films at the

Toronto International Film Festival,

Mr. Brown wrote:

 

"There was never any doubt that Del Toro would do

something special when he signed on to play Che Guevara,

but his stunning portrayal of the infamous revolutionary

proved to surpass even the loftiest expectations.

We should all be wearing T-shirts with his face."

Jonathan Sehring, President, IFC, revealed that

The Argentine and Guerrilla will premiere with

limited runs in December at New York's Ziegfeld Theater

and at Los Angeles' Landmark Theatre.

 

Mr. Sehring also said that the December runs of the movie

will be presented in its 4½-hour entirety with intermissions,

although it will be presented in two parts when it opens wide

in theaters in January 2009.
