When asked why she took the part in The Wolfman,

Emily Blunt said, "I can run and I can scream. I can do that…

I just liked the idea of being a damsel in distress."

Once on set, getting into character was easy for her

with Benicio wolfing it up. She said, "I didn't have to do much.

The noises he would come out with, it was just terrifying.

I really was running."

During an interview at last month's Comic Con

in San Diego, Rick Baker said the following:

"Benicio... can open his mouth wider than any

normal human being. You know those pictures

that were released on the Internet early on,

there was that shot with his mouth wide open

and people thought that it was digitally enhanced.

No, that's his real mouth opening that wide.

The teeth are a lot bigger than what Lon Chaney had,

because definitely The Wolf Man had to tear some

people up and do some horrible things.

We needed to give him a bigger set of teeth,

but what happens a lot of times when you put

big canines on a monster and the guy opens his mouth,

the canines don't even open up. There's no way he can

really bite somebody, but with Benny, he could."

When talking about his role in The Wolfman,

Benicio said: “Everybody talks about how boring

the makeup process is. I loved watching [Rick Baker]

build the makeup for four hours. It’s about becoming.

It’s exciting. The tough part is taking it off.

That gets desperate.”

The Argentine and Guerrilla encountered resistance

despite Benicio's earning best actor honors at Cannes.

The Weinstein Co. had been in exclusive pre-Cannes

negotiations for North American rights with seller

Wild Bunch based on footage shown in Berlin. But a

deal couldn't be completed before "Che's" Cannes premiere,

so both parties agreed to table further discussions.

Wild Bunch head Vincent Maraval hoped to get a

$10 million pickup to pay back investors immediately

but now says his company would need just a

$4 million deal with longer-term payouts.

Four indie offers are on the table,

though not the Weinstein Co., he said.

Steven Soderbergh wants to release the two-part,

four-hour-plus film as one movie in limited

December openings. He'd then like to release

the first part in January and the second in February.

Mr. Soderbergh has cut five to seven minutes

from each half, but a potential distributor who suggested

one three-hour cut was ruled out immediately.

Maraval said a P&A commitment isn't an issue.

"Our joke is that you need to have 'guerrilla marketing,' " he said.
