Benicio visits the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) to have a conversation
with the students of the School of Communication about the Puerto Rican
cinema industry. He was accompanied by the makers of Maldeamores,
Carlos Ruíz and Mariem Perez, and two other directors, Juan Esteban Suárez
and the Cuban Aarón Vega. Benicio was in Puerto Rico
to work on the post-production of Maldeamores.

Early in the morning, Benicio attends the liberation of
about 20 Puerto Rican Cotorras (parrots) in a forest located
between Arecibo and Utuado, along with the Puerto Rican governor
Aníbal Acevedo Vilá and the governor's family.

The book
Home: The Blueprints Of Our Lives
is being released today and Benicio is one of about 60 contributors
(everyday people as well as celebrities) to the book. Proceeds of this book go to Habitat For Humanity and other charity organizations.

Variety reports that the two Spanish language films
about Ernesto "Che" Guevara directed by Steven Soderbergh,
The Argentine and Guerrilla, will be filmed back-to-back,
starting in May 2007, on location in Mexico and South America.

Benicio and Halle Berry will be starring in the drama Things We Lost In The Fire
by Danish filmmaker Susanne Bier.
According to Variety magazine, Maldeamores is to be directed by Carlos Ruiz and executive producers will be Benicio Del Toro, Don Ranvaud and Ruiz.
The movie will be 80% financed by the Puerto Rico Film Fund.
Filming will begin next month in Puerto Rico.

Benicio has been nominated for a NCLR Alma Award in the Outstanding Actor
in a Motion Picture category for Sin City.
Benicio will lend his voice to the animated feature based on Maurice Sendak's
Where The Wild Things Are. The film is slated for a 2008 release by
Warner Bros. and co-financier Legendary Pictures.
Update:
Benicio dropped out of this project to fully concentrate
on Things We Lost In The Fire.
The scheduling would have been too tight to do both projects.

by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en). Filming will begin in 2007 with a
2008 tentative release date.
