With the Golden Globes upon us and the Academy Awards hard on their heels, Talk presents six performers worthy of gold. "It's nice to be watered," says Benicio Del Toro of his recent work for Steven Soderbergh in Traffic. "You grow." In Del Toro's case the growth is in just about every direction, like ivy. From The Usual Suspects to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas to Snatch, the 33-year-old has displayed an unnerving irresistibility on screen, a kind of casual brilliance. "He's magnetic," says Soderbergh, "and he's an actor who brings a lot to the table. He is not standard and he is not predictable." |
