Politics are not the only subject on John Edwards' mind these days.

Far from it. Edwards, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee, is a part-time director of the new Center on Poverty at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He will visit Anderson's Bookshop in downtown Naperville at 7 p.m. Nov. 28 to discuss his new book.

In "Home: The Blueprint of Our Lives," Edwards has collected nearly 60 stories that reflect how people's childhood homes become the blueprints of their lives.

The book features narratives from everyday people as well as celebrities in entertainment, religion, politics and sports. The book consists of pictures and short narratives of these people's childhood homes.

Some of the prominent people in the book are Mario Batali,
Benicio Del Toro, Bob Dole, Danny Glover, Sugar Ray Leonard and Steven Spielberg.

"We absolutely pride ourselves with the relationship we have with publishers and the authors who come to Anderson's," said Candace Purdom, marketing director at Anderson's, 123 W. Jefferson Ave. in Naperville.

Edwards joins a long list of big names who have come to the neighborhood bookstore, including J.K. Rowling, Anne Rice, Jamie Lee Curtis and Caroline Kennedy.

Edwards, like many other visiting authors, will meet with readers and sign copies of his book. Purdom said he also will host a short question-and-answer session.

"I'm not sure if he'll talk about politics, though," she said.

Purdom said Anderson's booked the former senator from North Carolina over the summer.

Those wanting an autograph from Edwards must purchase the book, but the event is free and open to the public.
